Despite what a Yorkshireman may tell you, Lancashire is in fact, God's Own County.

The Duke of Lancaster is HM Queen Elizabeth II, who outranks the Duke of York by a fair way (second son always does as Mum tells him .....), and of course, Lancashire won the War of the Roses.

Stretching from the sunlit uplands of the West Pennine hills to the coastal plains of the Fylde, Lancashire is surely the most wonderful place in the realm. The geographic centre of the British Isles is in Lancashire, at Dunsop Bridge in the Trough of Bowland, said to be HM Queen's fave bit of her land.

From a military perspective, there are a number of Regular and TA units based in Lancashire, including HQ 42 Bde at Preston.
