A term coined in 1944 by Raphael Lempkin to describe the atrocities committed against the Jewish people (as well as others) by the Nazi party in World War II. Directly translated from the Latin, it means "murder of a race", however the definition has been greatly debated by many great national leaders in order to hide the guilt of their own nation and direct anger towards another (equally) abusive government system.
