The battlegroup is the basic element of an agile fighting force. A battlegroup is commanded by a Lieutenant Colonel It is composed of a combination of armour, infantry and support arms relevant to the mission it has been tasked with.
In reality it will probably be made up of whatever troops can be found on short notice. Some of the British Army's greatest victories have come from cooks, QM's and mechanics thrust into combat.
