158 Transport Regiment (Royal Anglians) RLC(V) was formed in 1996 from the 5th Battalion the Royal Anglian Regiment. The regiment was formed as there was a so called requirement for a Transport Regiment along the 'M11 corridor'. This was particularly short sighted as 164 Tpt Regt RLC(V) was disbanded three years later and also happened to be at the top of the 'M11 corridor'.

158 managed to retain the khaki beret of their former regiment and the Minden Flash. For a while the regiment was regarded as a poor excuse for a transport unit but has flowered of late. This happens to correspond to the Regiments knowledge base losing its 'infantryness' and 158 provided a composite squadron for Op Telic.
