In 1988, "Wee Beastie" was the name of a character (Tourie-wearing Westie) employed by Scottish & Newcastle Breweries to raise nationalistic antagonism against a hostile take-over bid from the Australian Elders IXL company. The tactic was successful, and S & N promptly celebrated by awarding their loyal sheep an increase in ale prices - cnuts!
