[edit] AFV Recognition

Ritchie,

If you'd like to do something really helpful for the Wiki, you could handle all the AFV articles. For maximum points, you could make them all look like the 2S5 article here with its gucci picture box etc. Up to you!! Proximo 08:47, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I'll have a crack at it.

I'll have a go Proximo, but as I'm not 100% with the Wiki, you might find yourself having to do a bit of editing :D

A fine start young Ritchie. I've tweaked your entries in the main only to add the category.

If you just cut and paste one of the two below somewhere into your article if it's an AFV

[[Category:AFV]] or [[Category:Soviet Equipment]]

It will categorise the page so it's easily found. This uses the new AFV category.

As to why the original Merkava page wasn't working, heaven only knows. I tried a different picture and that seemed to help.

I also changed the secondary armament box to use the <br> instead of the |, which seems to just add line breaks and not extra columns. I'm not sure how those tables work really, so trial, error and the preview button are the way ahead :-) FluffyBun 10:30, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Righto, thanks Fluffy. I think I'm slowly getting the hang of it now. Thanks for the help. --RitchieRitch69 22:17, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Categories, More Yet

Good work so far geezers.

I've tweaked the categories above. If you wish to try other categories for other articles, there is a list at Special:Categories.

A couple of other things (and Pred as well) now you have the hang of writing articles:

There is some info at Help:Wikilinks you might find useful. The reason your bombs link wasn't working is that the link is actually bomb, but the pluralisation comes from the way the wiki handles these things. e.g. [[bomb]]s shows as bombs

Also, please try and make sure there is always at least one link out (which you are doing in almost every case) and a link in to the page somewhere. You need to find suitable pages where you can add links into your recent Antonov An-225 and F-117_Nighthawk articles.

Finally, there are already some articles out there that you are effectively replacing (F-15 and Eagle). It might be as well to edit the original article and bring it in line with the smart infobox style you're using, or at least make sure there are links in both directions.

Crack on chaps!

[edit] wembley

sorry dude, wasn't meaning to poach on your idea. After the last flurry of enthusiastic posting by newbies, I think I got into the habit of catting and fiddling with everything automatically! --Rabid Hams 15:08, 20 May 2008 (BST)

[edit] An Unhelpful Answer

It's to denote patrolled and unpatrolled edits. Don't worry about it: we don't bother with that crap here. Proximo 20:24, 30 June 2008 (BST)
