[edit] Sand Box
The sand box is located toward the bottom of the edit pages. It is below the save and preview buttons, and below the area of strange looking letters. It is just a highlighted word, sand box, with no graphics. The sand box is used to learn editing without worrying about messing other peoples' work up too badly.

Whilst ARRSEPedia (and it's sister site ARRSE) could be regarded as slightly close to the bone, we encourage an atmosphere of friendliness and openness. Of course, in practice there are sometimes disagreements and even the occasional fight or strop, but members of this community are expected to behave in a generally civil manner.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that you should always assume good faith on the part of other users. Don't assume that someone is acting out of spite or malice. They might just be a biff or newbie. If someone does something that upsets you, leave a polite message on the relevant article's talk page or on the user's talk page, and ask why. You may find that you've avoided a misunderstanding and saved yourself some embarrassment. Well, that's the idea, anyway.

[edit] Subject matter
ARRSEPedia is an encyclopedia. Hence, articles should be encyclopedic information about "notable" or at least vaguely in-demand subjects. What exactly constitutes notability could well be a subject of constant debate on ARRSEPedia ig anyone actually cared too much, but as a general rule, just ask 'who am I writing it for?' and 'what do they want to know?' Astonishingly enough, articles on the ARRSEPedia have actually been used to generate off-board pieces of work.
[edit] Citing sources
Wikipedia doesn't require that you cite sources for the information you contribute, but we do prefer that you do so whenever possible if you are going to claim something as an irrefutable fact. If you're using a book (or books) to write the article, list them in a section called "References". If you're using a website, make an "External links" section and link to it. This helps other users verify what you've written and find more information.
[edit] Copyrights
Do not submit copyrighted material without permission. The best articles are usually written from either personal knowledge anyway. For a more detailed discussion of copyrights, see Copyrights.
[edit] Renaming articles
If you find an article that you believe is mis-named, please do not cut & paste the contents of the old article into a new article--among other things, it separates the previous contributions from their edit history (which we need to keep track of for copyright reasons). The preferred method is to move the page to the new name. If it's your first move, please read the warnings on the move page carefully, as there are a number of issues to consider before moving a page. For a more detailed discussion, see How to rename (move) a page. If a "disambiguation" page is involved, it is best to review the disambiguation page. All in all, it's probably best to leave it to a Sysop at first.
