The Buffs
From ARRSEpedia
The Third Regiment of Foot.
The buff facings of the London Trained Bands, which were an antecedent of this Regiment, were to give it its popular name.
Origins of this Regiment go back to 1872. Its 1st Battalion existed continuously from this date until amalgamated with West Kent Regiment in 1961 and then with Queen's Regiment in 1966.
In 1935 it became, "The Buffs," (Royal East Kent Regiment), thereafter being, eventually, amalgamated into the Queen's Regiment.
