Talk:Royal Galloglas Guard
I appreciate the work that has gone into recording the past on this organization, and how it currently looks. My lovely wife says (of my uniform) that it looks like it was designed "by a blind man on crack cocaine". The colors are quite interesting in their ability to contrast with each other. Were it camoflage, I dare say I would clamp my eyes shut to avoid seeing whatever reality surrounded it...
I do like the kilt, and the jacket is nice (though I've become a bit more of a fat american than I was at the time of my original membership, at 13 stone now more or less). That said, it is quite the combination of flair and flavor.
A quick note about my name -- the translation was done by the RGG, not the members, so that is what I was given to use to be more "irish". As this was at the height of Riverdance, that was the trend of the day. These days I just stick with my long given name, followed by my degree postnomials unless I'm being particularly pretentious for fun.
A side note -- I will probably be pulling down the RGG/SIB/IBA site soon, as I've been paying for it without remembering it was there. When that happens the graphic links here will fail. Please copy any you want to preserve to other storage.
