You see we have here yet another example of the textbook / reality gap.
Check almost any reputable source (Janes, for instance) and the Sterling will be given a glowing write-up as a paragon of reliability and usefulness. And yet here we have a very different view from the people who have actually used the thing.
I did wonder, however, if the bad press given here at ARRSEpedia might be due to the age of the weapons involved and if new or remanufactured SMG's might shoot well enough not to be derided.
Personally, I quite liked it. It shot pretty well, and was light and handy. On the down side though they rattled like buggery. Mind you, as you say, that could have been because they were old and worn. T_T
