I was born in 1958 and had some happy holidays in the IOW until m'parents found somewhere else to go. There was a very exciting paddling pool at Ventnor which had a big IOW-shaped lump of concrete in the centre all painted up to look like green fields, white cliffs, red roads etc. Post-Modern before we even knew there was a Modern.

I had a serious attack of the Maltese Dogs there every year I went, a good ten years before I went to Malta itself and discovered the Real Thing (age 16). What is it with islands and diahorrea?
