- The T72 is regarded as the most succesful Soviet Main-Battle Tank.
- It can be fitted with two, 200 litre fuel drums on the rear, which can be jettisoned if battlefield situations require it, or they become empty.
- It is estimated that there are over 20,000 T72's still in active service around the world.
- It can fire 8 of its 125mm rounds a minute.
