Sprog

Sprog. n. A Newly trained Recruit soldier on their first posting.

The New Bloke, as the new bloke you will be reffered to as Sprog or Red Arse or Nig (new in green, or New Intake Group - apparently) until someone more junior joins the unit at which point they become the Sprog and you become the old salt and start telling war stories about how hard it was in your day.

Being the Sprog is a pain in the arse as you do get the crap jobs and become a magnet for big bits of kit that need carrying.
