Renaissance

A Historical age roughly spanning from the 14th until the late 16th century-ish.

Traditionally the Italian Renaissance encapsulated a rediscovering of much of the knowledge lost when things went tits up at the end of the Roman period. The Italian Renaissance is often thought as the beginning of the Modern Age. Things discovered, rediscovered or given a new look included:

• mathematics
• printing
• new techniques in art (i.e. painting naked fat chicks on ceilings)
• poetry
• music
• medicine
• architecture
• art of war (gunpowder makes castles and armour obsolete)
• christianity (schisms due to a corrupt Catholic church)
