Relay Op
Relay operators are the elite of Area Systems Operators, like rebro dets they too can vanish only to reappear on remote hillsides. Easily identified by the smell of petrol from ancient genny sets and well-developed forearms from pumping up a plethora of masts ( ;) ) the relay op can expect one hours frantic work followed by a desire to get back to the rest of the troop instead of being connected to the Switch Bitches by a length of cable
Relay relay is even more exciting but the sunbathing and porn thing works just as well
Added in amongst the Relay Ops plethera of jobs, there was the SCRA Central vehicle which provided Rupert and all his ballcock swallowing mates radio comms on the move in there SCRA terminal Land Rovers known as FFR's (Fitted For Radio)
Within the Central vehicle there is a bank of Triffid (Ptarmigan UHF kit), A SHF radio kit and also 2 x TX RX's that were used for 2 x 6 channels to which Rupert and his meery band would affiliate and talk about Port and Brandy. 1 channel allowed 2 wire comms. There were 11 channels for the use of talking about how much Daddy had put in the piggy bank, and 1 channel uused as a marker channel for the Radios to affiliate to the system.
The one downside of the wagon and its kit was that it only had 4.5 kVa generators - which gave 28 volts DC. However, with a twist of a dustcap on the front, you could get 240 volts at 5 amps for the use of TV/Vid (DVD players were not around in the early 90's) for the use of watching lashings of porn and Steven Segal movies which we all know are actually real!!
