We clean walls, count instruments, nail QAs, mop up blood and generally make the surgeons and anaesthetists look good. Our arch-enemy is the scrub-nurse, who in the age of the Perioperative Practitioner is feeling very threatened by the fact that they can only scrub whereas the ODP can scrub and do anaesthetics!! I mean, who would you employ?
