• The hole at the front end of a gun, cannon or howitzer through which the shell or projectile escapes to the outside World.

• Anatomically - the front bit of an animal that combines the nose that sniffs you out with the teeth that bite you. You would be well advised to keep your arse well away from the muzzle of a Furry Crocodile and woe betide you if a Land Shark hoves into view.
