John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough.
Famous and gifted British General, Commander in Chief of the victory at Blenheim - the critical battle of the War of the Spanish Succession, for which he was rewarded with the Duchy (having previously been Earl of Marlborough) and the gift of Blenheim Palace.
Ranks with Wellington as one of the great generals of the post-Restoration, pre-modern army. Distant ancestor of Sir Winston Churchill.
