Man Fat and Glow Beans
The worst of the rations breakfasts. Luminous orange and very hard beans in a thick orange sauce with long stringy white bits - Fat, Man, L10A3.
A little known fact is that the beans were included in ration packs as an emergency form of lighting, and may for instance be mounted on cocktail sticks, covered with cam cream on one side, and used to form an all orange version of the NATO T in the not so unlikely event that there are not enough working right-angle torches and filter packs in.... theatre.
Currently glow beans are under further development in Porton Down in an attempt to make them an emergency source of heat as well as light. While early trials have been promising, there has been some compatibility issues with the man fat, which after prolonged heating by the beans has been found to become edible.
