Leconfield

A former RAF base near the town of Beverley (oop north, ba gum) and now home to the RLC administered Defence School of Transport. Also known as Normandy Barracks.

The old runways make useful driver training roads with one cunningly employed as a short section of motorway. Much of the rest of the place resembles the bastard offspring of a huge car/lorry park and a WW2 morale booster film set.

The Crabs just couldn’t let go of the old place and still have two Search & Rescue helicopters based there.

The camp cinema is listed, being the last of its type. Many other buildings are listing, being hit by vehicles of many types.

More here, but obviously written by a crab, with RAF squadron this and RAF squadron that… What about the bloody RLC eh?
