King's Cheshire Regiment

The Kings and Cheshire Regiment (KCR) was a short-lived TA regiment. It was formed in 1999 by amalgamation of 5th/8th (Volunteer) Battalion, the King's Regiment and 3rd (Volunteer) Battalion, the Cheshire Regiment. The companies were located as follows:

  • A (King's) Company - Townsend Avenue, Liverpool including Liverpool Scottish and Milan Platoons (redesignations of A Coy and V Coy 5/8KINGS).
  • B (Cheshire) Company - Peninsular Barracks, Warrington with Mortars at Stockport (amalgamation of HQ Coy 5/8KINGS and detachments of Salerno Coy 3CHESHIRE).
  • C (King's) Company - Manchester, including Recce Platoon (redesignation of C Coy 5/8KINGS).
  • D (Cheshire) Company - Crewe with SF Platoon at Northwich (redesignation of Gaza Coy 3CHESHIRE).

The regiment was disbanded in 2006 to form 4th Battalion, the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (King's, Lancashire and Border) [King's coys], and 4th Battalion, the Mercian Regiment [Cheshire coys].
