  • If you are aged 18-43, just phone up your local unit and arrange to go and visit them on a drill night. Please don't ask for comparisons between units in the forums, you won't get a balanced view ;) Get the phone number for your local unit from TA website or Where Can I Find The Nearest TA Units?, if there is more than one TA unit in your area, go and speak to all of them to find out which one is best suited to you.
  • For information on joining the Royal Marines Reserve or the Royal Navy Reserve check out their very own forums on RumRation.co.uk or the Official RMR web site. For information about the Royal Auxiliary Air Force (including the RAuxAF Regiment squadrons) see www.rafreserves.com.
  • Have a think about what you want to gain from the TA. If you want to do a trade similiar to your civvy job or completely the opposite, for example. It might be worth travelling a bit further to ensure you get the best unit for you.
  • Start working on Fitness. You don't need to be up to SAS standards, as the training is progressive. However, you want to set a good impression from the start.
If you want to ask any general questions about the TA, just ask in the TA Forum on ARRSE.
  • If your question is specifically about the recruiting process go straight to our new Recruiting Forum Please also use this link if you are a serving member with recruiting ideas of your own.
