Gun Position Officer
From ARRSEpedia
In the good old days, the GPO was in charge of the gun position, with the BK in charge of the overall area.
In charge of 6 or 8 guns, a CP, a £ 1/2 million inertial navigation system and about 100 troops, plus a few other bits,it was one of the most responsible jobs for a Lieutenant in the whole Army.
Nowadays, replaced in the recce role by the BRO, with the BK running the gun area, including the gun position.
