1. (n. pl.) Antiquated Pump units that were originally designed to act as pumping tenders in event of a civil emergency. The Pumping part is actually very good, and you can run up to four fire fighting monitors off them at once. Roadwise, they are somewhat underpowered. They are much beloved by small children, because if they find one struggling uphill, they can keep up with it on their tricycles. This actually happened to us near Aldershot; while huffing and puffing up a steepish hill we were accompanied by a gaggle of jeering 6-8 year olds on BMX bikes, who kept up with us with little apparent effort.

2. (n. pl.) Ladies who, in the event of being up for it would, invariably, get it from young gentlemen of the soldiering persuasion. Typically, a goddess sports a fine set of pneumatic norks, legs up to her armpits and may well be wearing CEFO beneath her figure hugging attire.
