Thought the loss of England to Germany in Euro 96 was bad? ... well its nothing when compared to when footie yobbos got SERIOUS!
The Football War was caused by tensions concerning immigrants from El Salvador moving to Honduras during 1969. It all went pair shaped with rival hooligans rioting but most sources claim the war wasn't caused by the match.
There were a great number of casualties and losses through the two countries perpetrating major military manoeuvres on each other but this was sorted out by a ceasefire negotiated by the Organisation of American States.
