For years the 434 was the 'gin palace' of the battlefield, having a huge high tarpaulin cover over the rear of the vehicle, which, when insulated gave it's crew the most living room you could ever expect in a tracked vehicle.

Despite such advantages, this aging vehicle is now classed as the very poor cousin to the newer and much more 'sexy' Warrior or Challenger 2 based recovery vehicles.
