John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough. 1650 - 1722

One of the greatest military leaders Britain has ever had, alongside the Duke of Wellington in the pantheon.

In an era when sieges were the norm, Marlborough believed in open combat much to the discomfort of his opponents. An extremely able administrator who was well aware that an army marches on its stomach and requires to be well provisioned to perform at its best.
