Spam Special Forces (yes another one) but these might be a bit more special than all the other REMF's that claim otherness. In the past there have been no more than 250 'operators' on active service but since the DoD decided it needed many more special forces, numbers are now unknown.

Know as the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D) — and commonly known as Delta in the U.S. Army.

Started by Colonel Charles Beckwith in 1977, the unit had the benefit of experience from the British SAS in its formation.

Not always the best prepared ... The unit took part in absolute FUBARed Operation Eagle Claw, the seriously failed attempt to rescue American hostages from the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1980. Then during the Invasion of Grenada, codenamed Operation Urgent Fury, October 25, 1983 ... a Delta team drowned during insertion due to poor planning and a total lack of training.
