Bratwurst

One of the many Traditional Regional German Sausages or Wurst.

The Bratwurst is classed as the standard sausage, found all over the north of Germany and either eaten with Senf (German mustard) or with Curry Sauce (Currywurst). The curry sauce can be anything from what would be a normal mild curry sauce or tomato ketchup with curry powder sprinkled over the top.

The Bockwurst is a boiled sausage very much like the kind used in Hotdogs in the UK and US, serves with Senf and a slice of bread.

If you heed any advice in your life, let it be that you should never try a Weinwurst. This white sausage, found in the south of Germany is very much like a Black Pudding, except that instead of large bits of fat in a sausage made from blood, it's very large bits of fat in a sausage made of even more fat. If this sausage doesn't make you retch than you never will. One small slice of a Weinwurst and you'll be able to hear your arteries hardening. Leave well alone!
