Battle of Crete

The Battle of Crete was a battle during the Second World War that took place on the Greek island of Crete.
The battle began on 20th May 1941 when German Paratroopers launched an airborne assault on the island.
After several days of bitter fighting the Allied forces (British, ANZAC, and Greek) began to evacuate the island on 28th May. The remaining Allied forces surrendered on 1st June.
