BTR

BTR - "Brone Transporter" - literally armoured transporter.

Russian term for an armoured box that moves infantry round the map. The key difference between this and a BMP is that the occupants dismount to deploy their firepower. Never intended for the direct fire battle.

The best known are the 8 by 8 BTR-60, BTR-70, BTR-80 and BTR-90] series.

Other wheeled types include the BTR-152.
