Air Force Cross
From ARRSEpedia
The Air Force Cross was introduced in June 1918, "awarded to Officers and Warrant Officers for acts of courage or devotion to duty when flying, although not in active operations against the enemy." After the Major government's decision to remove rank distinction from awards, all ranks may receive the AFC, with the award superseding the old AFM for NCOs and ORs.
Ribbon of red and white diagonal stripes. Although initially intended as an award for the RAF, the AFC has subsequently been awarded to members of the other two services.
