APU

Auxilliary Power Unit


Can be either a small engine in a vehicle that also has a main engine, for example Chinook, or a means of motorising an otherwise unpowered piece of equipment, such as FH70.


An APU saves running the main engine to charge batteries or power air-con and sensors.
