Just as Apocalypse Now asserted that the Mekong River river ran through the Vietnam War "like a mains cable", thus the A303 serves the same function for the British Army, servicing such exotic locales as:

• Middle Wallop

• Andover

• Tidworth

• Bulford

• Larkhill

• Boscombe Down

• Wilton

• Salisbury Plain

• Warminster

Whilst its principal feeder road, the M3, manages to cover:

• Camberley

• Aldershot (well near enough)

The end result of this is a road which, come Friday afternoon, resembles a para-military version of Wacky Races as a 3rd of the British Army burns rubber in an attempt to get away from their working locations.
