9 Parachute Squadron RE

9th Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers (9 Para Sqn RE), is part of the Royal Engineers, part of the British Army. Like other units comprising the Royal Engineers, soldiers in the Squadron are called sappers. They refer to themselves as 9 Para - everyone else refers to them as 9 Sqn in order that they are not confused with members of The Parachute Regiment.

These guys are so 'nails' they've managed to keep an exclusively 9 Sqn table in the cookhouse at Brompton Bks for over 20 years . . . . easily identified by the large bowl of bananas and 2 spoons for cutlery.

Widely regarded by the rest of the Army as being 'more Reg than The Reg'.
