Formed from the Rifle Volunteers in February 2007, bringing its Light Infantry, Devon and Dorset Light Infantry and Royal Gloucester, Berkshire and Wiltshire Light Infantry cap-badges together under the Bugle.

Battalion HQ is at Wyvern Barracks, Exeter, Devon and there are Company HQ locations in Gloucester (A Coy), Taunton (B Coy), Dorchester (C Coy), Truro (D Coy) and Exeter (HQ Coy). There are also platoon-strength outstations in Bristol, Exeter, Poole, Bodmin and Plymouth.
