5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards

The 5th/6th Dragoons were formed in 1922 by the amalgamation of 5th Dragoon Guards (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) and The Inniskillings (6th Dragoons). Titular changes occurred in 1927 (5th Inniskilling Dragoon Guards) and 1935 (5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards).

The regiment - in common with other cavalry units - transferred to Royal Armoured Corps prior to the onset of WW2. The regiment amalgamated with 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards in 1992 to form the Royal Dragoon Guards.
