5 (Army Cooperation) Squad­ron

Number 5 (Army Cooperation) Squad­ron was reformed on 1st April 2004 at RAF Waddington. The Squadron's role is the delivery of airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and they do this using a converted Bombardier Global Express business jet, known in service as 'the Sentinel', which is the airborne component of the Airborne Standoff Radar (ASTOR) which comprises 5 aircraft and 8 ground stations.

The Squadron is joint and is commanded by a RAF Wing Commander with an Intelligence Corps Second in Command. The Squadron has approximately 300 personnel, making it the largest flying Squadron in the RAF by quite some way.
