Originally formed in WW2, 3 PARA are now best known for their starring role in the Battle of Mount Longdon, during the Falklands War, where they fought and won an epic battle to take a heavily fortified hilltop position which a competent enemy should have been able to hold for decades.
3 PARA suffered more than 60 casualties, including 17 Killed In Action, but members of the battalion won one VC and many other decorations in the process.
3 Para Mortar Platoon are famous for completely different reasons.
