One of the three UK-based Attack Aviation Regiments that form part of 16 Air Assault Brigade. It is currently equipped with Lynx, Gazelle and the US-designed Apache helicopters. It is based at the former RAF base at Wattisham in Suffolk.
[edit] Operational Tours
Deployed on Op Telic with 16 Air Assault Brigade forming an Aviation Battlegroup (BG). This was the first (and only) time that this has been done. The BG included elements from the Royal Irish Regiment, RAF Support Helicopter Force, Royal Engineers and other attached arms.

Like most AAC units, 3 AAC was originally based in Germany but returned to the UK in the early 1990s.
