The following major events took place in 1973:

• 1 January - The United Kingdom enters the European Economic Community, which later became the European Union.
• 8 March - After a referendum in Northern Ireland, it elects to remain part of the UK.
• 23 December - Greedy OPEC bastards double the price of oil.

Military Events

The following military events took place in 1973:

• 27 January - Paris Peace Accords signed, leading to the largescale withdrawl of US troops from Vietnam.
• 6 October - Israel is invaded (again) by Egypt and Syria on the Festival of Yom Kippur, and Egypt and Syria are given a total shoeing... again!
