Re: Best weapons / optimum calibres
Ok Lucius, you have had your fun, this is a sticky for a reason, if you are curious about what weapons you will get issued then ask in the appropriate forum, this isnt the place for stealing bandwidth. Dr Stealth Behave or no free stalking for you!
May I politely point you towards the Training bits if its phase 2 you are interested in or assuming you are infantry then even their board please!"I'd rather be a tired old Has been, than a tired old Never Has Been!!"

Some specialist units have other things but you are unlikely to use them unless you join those units. It's time for British Independence.

Re: Best weapons / optimum calibres
Hello,
as rifle calibres have been considered at length in this thread, this should get us back to discussion of the thread topic:
The most demanding application of all for small arms ammunition is the military four yard pistol fight.
When fighting in someone's house, you are never more than a second away from the tip of your enemy's bayonet.
However, even a shot to the heart may take much longer than that to incapacitate a opponent and hitting those areas which can incapacitate more quickly may be impractical in a combat situation, especially against an opponent wearing military level protection.
Penetration of such armour may be practical for those using rifles with the right ammunition but the qualities a weapon needs to penetrate such protection run contrary to the practicalities of pistol design.
What then is the "Best Weapon/Optimum Calibre" for the military sidearm?
Discuss.
