Ha! Good one! Love to see someone try and fire that anywhere near a wall! They found a method to make an already outdated steyr AUG even more shite. :D
I would argue that the Steyr AUG is the easiest assault type weapon to teach to a reasonable competence level. Certainly due for an update/redesign (their are newer versions around), but as a system its got a lot going for it.

Clearly you have not had much experience with it (if any). As for being shiite, I guess it must be an accident that it has been adopted by more military forces worldwide than any other system in that class

You've not fired a G3, have you? Overrated piece of inaccurate, agricultural grade junk.
I found the G3 to be quite good, certainly no worse than the SLR. The only thing I did not like about the G3 is the re-assembling after cleaning. That roller lock mechanism is a great idea however---. A mate of mine has an ex Bundeswehr G3 that shoots very well, about 1 inch + at 100 mtrs, OK he cheated, he had a Walther barrel fitted.
Sorry to be sceptical, but I doubt he can consistently do 10 round groups at that size, it's just not ballistically plausible with that system.

I found the ergonomics and the recoil far worse than the SLR.

The roller delay mechanism is really not suited to a weapon of that calibre and that weight class, and over time causes the receiver walls to bulge slightly, which leads to faster ejection, more wear, and more recoil.

The violent ejection in a beautiful arc seems purpose designed to give the position of the firer away. ...

The Bundeswehr still sometimes use them as designated marksman rifles (DMR's), not a sniper rifle. Maybe that is what you mean?

    which police force?

In any case, you don't really need "sniper rifle"-grade accuracy to pop someone at 25 yards across the street now, do you?

Before anybody else pipes up and get very cross, I should point out that your policeman's mate is not a sniper, he is a police marksman. A different beast entirely.

Only 4-5000 rounds in comparative tests (civilian role) with other firearms. I am not operationally experienced with this weapon. My opinions are entirely personal but based on some level of experience. It's popularity I would suggest is that it can be handled by the warry dwarves that populate the planet outside the first world

PS- if the modern varients are anything like the picture above, I would suggest that it smacks of a company desperately attempting to keep their weapon current without actually going to the trouble of thinking about it.
