The NI patrol pack is actually one of the better packs. Consider modding it to get rid of reasons for discomfort. For example, this Mystery Cinch can be used to massively improve comfort when wearing any pack, particularly with body armour.

You can't be infantry with a statement like that. The NI pack is crap. It's far too small for a modern day patrol pack for a start. It is in essence, gay.

Have to agree with Fally, NI patrol isn't particularly good on FTX and is now apparently being phased out in favour of bigger and better role-specific ones that sit better over Osprey.

Would cost a lot less to print out the webpage, show it to your tailor, and have them come up with their own version.

For carrying more kit thanks to gear inflation, of course you need more (I'm happy with my Camelbak BFM 500 with added Kifaru Molle pouches). But the original poster was complaining about comfort, not lack of space.

It's just outdated. The stuff it was designed for isn't relevant to our current situation.

Re: Kit to buy for an Op Tour
Suggest the Headtorch's from Petzl. Especially the Petzl Tikka Plus, great bit of kit and can be bought here
Petzl Tikka
Also the Free Loader Solar Charger, great for using the sun to power any of the gadgets you've got whilst on tour, Freeloader
