Re: Search for an *Ally* star
Just an interesting picture. Not ally maybe but a picture of a serving Marine which certainly tells a story.
US Marine Larry Burrows on patrol near the DMZ (demilitarized zone) in Vietnam. From what I am reading - it was in these kind of areas (border areas etc.) in which some of the heaviest fighting occured, where the NVA and VC trained together and were grouped in battalion size, had fighting structures such as bunkers and spider-hole ambush points all over they could use at will, US were sometimes beyond artillery range (more so for SF missions) plus had to manage further politican complications such as bad Cambodian/Vietnamese relations (alot of Vietnam was formerly Cambodia before Viet'se Imperialism, 3 million Cambodians became Vietnamese overnight against their will.) As this was at the extent of the US lines of communication and supply missions would often last longer than those closer to US bases - resupply by helicopter/evac wounded and continue the mission.
There are similarities to how Afghanistan/Pakistan missions are/will continue to be.
He looks tired doesn't he?

Back to tracer but still prett good pictures
A Sqn HCR Scimiters (range) live firing outside Basra 2004

We should remember the tremendous contribution of the Queen Mother to the war effort:
As the BBC pointed out, she 'bravely remained in London beside her husband' during the war.
This contrasts sharply with the actions of my grandfather who, on the declaration of war immediately left his wife and children and pissed off, first to France, then North Africa, Italy, France (again) and finally Germany.
The shame will always be with us.
