Colloidal silver - if taken in the reduced golden-coloured form, does not cause Argyria; the ionic form, which may cause Argyria, only if huge amounts of badly-made ionic silver are ingested, is best kept for topical purposes; then it works fantastically. Not only does it stop infections dead, it speeds up healing by a significant margin. It can be ingested quite safely for short term use, which is how it is meant to be taken. The idiots who have overdosed on silver chloride (which is not colloidal silver anyway) are used to try to suppress one of the best antibiotics in the world. I would never give up a product which works so well on bacterial, viral and fungal illnesses.

Argyria is utterly irrelevant to a dog, anyway.

To be honest, I've always found that dressings on dogs are more hassle than they are worth, they'll just get scratched/chewed/bitten/wriggled off.

for brand new fresh bites/cuts, I spray them with traumastem cellulose haemostatic spray to stop the bleeding.

for anything else, and for the ones I've traumasteme after a couple of days, Terramycin spray, the blue stuff, is best - keeps it clean and uninfected and lets it scab over naturally.

Don't underestimate the usefulness of good old cyanoacralate glue as well.

as long as its the right stuff, wood grade is the closest thing to tissue glue and comes with an activator if you buy it as mitre mate type of thing, the industry metal grade stuff can cause serious problems as it has some right nasties in it. not sure how gluing a dogs tongue to its bum will help, a big elastic band around the nose is probably more effective.

oh I definately agree except for the fact that scientific medicine is running out of options and turning to ingredients found in natural cures. tea tree, mint, lavender, capsicum, garlic etc... and the way govt bans things like the eu who stopped 22 trace elements as food additives including silver some of which are being closely looked at as diabetes treatments.

the theories about cancer being caused by the candida fungus along with lots of other things I find interesting enough to look up further. if for example CS is as claimed able to deal with malaria parasites within a week then it will have done something a 100 years of pharmacolgy has failed to do.

colloidal silver is not much different to the practice of giving a child a silver spoon to suck on or the swedish practice of using cast iron pans to increase the iron in their diets which they would fail to get in winter months.

for me its a harmless and cheap experiment, it so far has been worth the outlay just to de-algae the fish tank, and the cleaning out of my kidneys, if it kills my poorly toes then even better. if it is indeed a broad spectrum antibiotic then brilliant. when you take it it certainly feels like its doing something in the same way a course of amoxilin does when it has a fight on its hands.

some of the claims are wilder than others, the blue guy was taking it for asthma and drunk gallons of the stuff at super concentrations. the US FDA has tested it and given a safe dose level which means I could drink a pint a day for 80 years and not turn blue. which suits me fine

I think you'll find that for your first paragraph most new drugs are still made from naturally occurring things.

Ugly. Sorry to hear about your dogs. My old Labradors recently experienced similar woes, I just took them to the vet and separated them from each other and persevered with the 'lampshades'. Had this thread popped up a few months ago I might have saved a few bucks!
