I dont trust plod with any ammo sub sonic or otherwise unless the gun is 12 foot long, around 35kg and single shot.
what the world needs is an enema, make that two - just to give it a sense of purpose.

US electoral democracy is just a structured system of legalised bribery.

a senior Chinese officer has said, “all the great nations in the world own aircraft carriers – they are symbols of a great nation”. That’s why China has just commissioned its first. By the same token, to opt for a “carrier gap” of some years is to abandon your responsibilities.

I would allow a bolt action gpmg for special occasions like balcony storming

I think it said in the article that basically Plod are worried that if a "Mumbai" type of attack happened in London they would be outgunned with their ageing MP5's if somehow the nutters managed to arm themselves with AK's and they have doubts over their semi-auto G36's. So whoever wins this contract with the MOD to supply the new assault rifle in 2014 to the Army, Plod wants the same weapon as well.

I think that it gives the wrong impression about the police indicating that they are merely reacting to events rather than controlling issues and in these areas impressions count. I was even against the proposals that Customs officers should be armed just because all the other European forces were. IMH experience you achieve far more by toning down authority. That said our two roles were very different but the principle remains the same.
Are you saying youre an ex constable because you used to be C&E?

Either way you sound like a barrel of laughs
