Never been comfortable with armed police, and thats as an ex constable. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind police drawing weapons for specific matters, but not this wandering about with em as I used to see as a cuzzie working all over the place. I think that it gives the wrong impression about the police indicating that they are merely reacting to events rather than controlling issues and in these areas impressions count. I was even against the proposals that Customs officers should be armed just because all the other European forces were. IMH experience you achieve far more by toning down authority. That said our two roles were very different but the principle remains the same.

May also want army uniforms. Ah so that's the ploy the ARmy is actually expanding by including Police Regiments.

Have you ever fired a short barrel 5.56 rifle without ear defenders?

Now try doing the same as you enter a small room, supressors also reduce muzzle flash, which is an important consideration if you are entering a building that is being used for the producition of drugs or various other criminal stuff like bootleg booze, fuel theft etc etc.

Didn't the Krauts make a supergun that fired in exactly that way? Some huge artillery peice with each round numbered and had to be fired in order, after a couple of dozen it had to be sent back to the factory to be remade!

Never caught on for some reason.

On a Hot morning in cyprus I found the meaning of anger. Fortunataly I was comftably numb.
The RSM and various other NCO's seemed very agitated.

Isn't that what flash hiders are for? Or a mere suppressor instead of a full blown silencer, unless a suppressor is the same thing as a silencer which a quick google suggests it is not... I'm not asking that sarcastically by the way i'm curious.

As to the short barrel 5.56 thing no, not without ear defenders. Thanks for the info though!

Sir Walter Raleigh declared in the early 17th century that "whoever commands the sea, commands the trade; whosoever commands the trade of the world commands the riches of the world, and consequently the world itself." This principle is as true today as when uttered, and its effect will continue as long as ships traverse the seas."
