Reloading is going to be interesting with that thing sticking below your mag - hand finds hand, hand sticks to hand...

I saw the original report on this gadget and was intrigued. The theory is that if you are doing something like a house search and a bad guy literally jumps on you, he may be too close to use a rifle on him. The dagger may enable you to create enough space to draw a pistol. How realistic is that? I have no idea. But I'm pretty damn sure it's useless without thorough training and practice in its use. Apart from anything else, it is designed to be used in an overhand grip, as shown in the photos, which I have always understood to have very little practical use.
No doubt it will be very good for opening envelopes.

Mouse training for men.
You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. However, you can bl**dy well make it wish it had!

I think that you may find that the police, and the courts take a very different view. - the meaning of "branding" is down to each chief constable to interpret (normally taking a lead from the Met, who have a very strict view on bladed articles.) Since this is marketed as a "Special Operations Combat programme knife", with a blurb on the benchmade website that clearly shows it's origins as a combat weapon with an associated combat method I think that it may well fall within the definition of a prohibited weapon. It clearly has no other purpose - other than as a letter opener!
I am somewhat surprised that it got past the blade fascists at Mount Pleasant Sorting Office - they often confiscate imports that are even borderline illegal. I think you would be very foolish to take this out of the house.Last edited by Mr Tweedy; 02-05-2012 at 10:09. Reason: spelling
