The whole banning lead stems from the US ban on lead shot for e=waterfowl which in itself was based on flawed evidence, the ban here is silly and pointless and achievees nothing. More birds are killed by ingesting rubbish than have ever been killed by shooters!Lead isnt a problem, its a natural resource and just should be treated with a little respect and its fine!

What on earth are you on about. The general has coped just fine for the past forty years, the .50hmg even longer. These weapons are still used today because they are able to perform the roles required of them. The H&K manufactured GPMG continues to prove how well it is doing its job. Replacing something just because its old or not "green" is rediculous. There is no requirement for a green firearm and no logistic benefit to one.

Plenty of monolith bullets on the market for hunting in juristictions with a jihad against lead. Nothing new under the sun. Sectional density is carp though, for obvious reasons.
As for solid steel, I seem to remember that there were some back in the day for people to slot rhinos etc with out of silly-large cartridges....... As for modern, practical use, puhleeeeease.
BTW, got some DAG 7.62 NATO steel-jacket with butt plug that shoots 1MOA out of a TRG42 without even trying ;)All shall kneel before the Gloryhole of the Old Gods and receive their blessings

Look I have been shooting lead bullets since the seventies. They do not worry me, but I can see the writing on the wall. Pick up any official document on design, innovation or manufacture & you will be bombarded with eco design & sustainable development messages. Whether we like it or not, this is the way things are heading. I read a really good article that said that recycling lead more was far better for the environment than many lead free alternatives. Please lets not get hung up on the lead issue. There are many more topics on whether a better GPMG can be made.

Good for shooting vampires.
